It's really been a month since I've posted anything? Wow! Anyway...I've just received my first review--and it's a good one! A review by Anton Cancre was just posted at Horrornews.net for an anthology I have a story in, Raw: Brutality as Art. He said some very nice things about the anthology overall, as well as specific comments about each story, including mine. There's not a direct link, but you can find it by going to horrornews.net then clicking "reviews" then "book reviews" then "Raw: Brutality as Art" in the list at the right. Woo hoo!!

New pub announcement, this time for my friend and fellow writer C. Bryan Brown. His novella, Men of Five, is available now from Misanthrope Press. It's a dark sci-fi story about a team of Russian-based soldiers sent to find and investigate a strange building inexplicably located on a mountain on an (apparently) uninhabited planet. It's one of my favorite things he's ever written, but then I'm the one who bullied him into publishing it in the first place!

I have a new pub! Check out my story "Ophelia Doe" in this month's issue of Nossa Morte!
Meanwhile, still working on getting the novel finished and ready. The goal is to have that out by the end of the summer, but we'll see.

Just a quick update--my latest published story, "The Death and Permanent Storage of Picket Fence Pete," is now online at Midnight in Hell.
Also, in case I don't get another update done in time, watch for "The Nightly Bite," by C. Bryan Brown coming up in issue 6 of The Monsters Next door. It's scheduled for release on March 15.

Happy New Year!!
I just did one of my regular checks, and our writers' group anthology, The Creative Minds Collection is FINALLY available at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com. Click here to see!!
I've also been working on getting the group's site moved to a new host, so our URL is now www.creativemindscollective.org. I'll have the .com extension set up as a redirect soon, but for now only .org is displaying the current site. Membership interest in the group has been building since we started spreading the word at the Central Ohio NaNo WriMo kickoff last fall, which is very exciting!
Guess that's it for now--this is supposed to be my actual writing time, gotta get back to work!

It's over...sort of
Well, I just uploaded my final word count for 2008's NaNo Wrimo: 52,086 (The NaNo-bot calls it 52,034, but I'm not arguing--a win's a win!) I did something this year I'll NEVER do again: rather than start a new book and write the whole thing over the month, I picked up a years-old project I've been struggling with and declared I was going to use my NaNo WriMo words to finish it. Problem is (and I knew this going in) I didn't have 50,000 words LEFT in the story. Exciting as it was to finally (after 14 years) finish that book, I was done at 35k in nine days, and had to figure out what the hell I was doing with the rest of the month! I considered doing a different book before I decided on finishing the one I ultimately decided on, and thought about starting it once I finished the other, but I listened to logic instead of inspiration and tried one failed project after another for about 2 weeks before I finally said fuck it and started the book I wanted to do in the first place. I'm flying on that one, I'm happy to say, and have done over 16k on it in one week. Which is why I say it's only sort of over, because I'm going to keep writing NaNo-style and finish this thing by the end of December. Who's with me? We can do 2 months of NaNo WriMo, right? My friend and fellow writer C. Bryan Brown is doing that very thing for the 2nd year in a row, so I know I'll at least have SOME company...

I got the test print back for our writers' group fiction anthology yesterday. It's sooo awesome to hold a professionally printed book in my hands and see my name all over it! I'm going through fixing all the typos and stuff now, and I need to make a few corrections and updates to the cover, then we're ready to roll! I'm aiming for a November 1st publication date. Click here to see the book details!

And finally I update the site!
I've been busy, though, honest! I have a chapbook novella out, which is available for purchase here, and lots of other projects going on.
I've been busy starting a publishing company with my friend and now business partner C. Bryan Brown, called Misanthrope Press. Our only project right now is my book, but we're planning an anthology from our writers' group, Creative Minds Collective, later this year, a magazine next year, and I'm still bullying Chris about doing one of his longer stories as a chapbook, too. He's resisting, but I won't give up ;)

Welcome to my (finally!) new and updated website! I don't have any new publications to announce just yet, but I have a good few stories out there, so hopefully I'll have news soon!
Until then, I've filled in pretty much everything in the new site, even the bio. I despise writing bios for myself, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
